In collaboration with colleagues from IDM South Tyrol, the functionaries, managing directors and workers of the tourism associations and tourism offices will undertake the preparation for the restructuring of the tourism organisations in the coming weeks and months.

Workshops on Products, Themes and Adventure Areas

In collaboration with the tourism associations we will organise 8 half-day workshops this autumn for the whole of South Tyrol. The aim will be to facilitate joint discussions with the tourism associations and tourism offices about which products, themes and adventure areas should be developed and marketed within the new organisational entities (DMEs).

Specifying the themes, products and adventure areas also plays an important role in the definition of the allocation of tasks between the areas covered by IDM, DMEs and tourism offices (TVs), and is the basis for building the structures (areas of work, numbers of employees) as well as decisive in the development of strategies and the inclusion of activities and projects.

Remit of IDM, DMEs and TVs

In June, an investigation was carried out into the current tasks undertaken by staff working in the tourism associations (TVBs). Working together with employees of the TVBs, commonalities and differences were identified and realigned. The additional tasks are in the process of being discussed with the relevant TVBs and TVs. The roles and core areas of responsibility will be mapped over the next few weeks together with the managing directors and employees of the TVBs.


Destination Manager (DM) Job Description

At the beginning of September the posts of three destination managers (DMs) will be advertised. The appointments should be made by the end of October. There will be several phases to the selection procedure. One commission consisting of representatives of IDM South Tyrol and the tourism organisations will select the three destination managers. Together with the IDM management the DMs will determine the objectives and strategies over several years for their Destination Management Entity (DME). They will lead and coordinate the current businesses in each respective entity and are responsible, in conjunction with their colleagues, external partners and commissioned service providers, for the implementation of the prescribed measures laid down in the Strategic Plan. They will represent IDM and their district to the outside world and are the point of contact for local tourism offices, local and regional partners as well as institutions and public authorities.
