Destination Management

Destination Management has been part of IDM’s marketing department since 1 January 2018. There are six Destination Management offices headed by three destination managers: Glorenza/Glurns, Merano/Meran, Bolzano/Bozen, Bressanone/Brixen, Santa Cristina/St. Christina and Brunico/Bruneck. The aim of this presence on the ground is to promote dialogue between the local tourism offices, leisure operators and accommodation providers and to enable the Destination Management units to offer active support to these service providers. Product management, communications, marketing and collaborative partnerships are the primary areas of focus here.


The three destination managers work together with senior IDM staff members and the Presidential Committee (presidents of the tourism offices) to determine the objectives and strategies of each unit “West”, “Central” and “East” for the years to come. They lead and coordinate current operations, represent IDM in public and act as points of contact for the local tourism offices, partners, authorities and institutions.

Destination Management’s mission is to think on a South Tyrol-wide scale, yet to act locally. Visitors come into contact with the “Südtirol” umbrella brand every step of the way, before, during and after their trip. The objective is for the relationship between marketers and service providers to be shaped by a collaborative working environment, a lively exchange of knowledge and mutual learning. The Destination Management units ensure that budgets are allocated efficiently across the various markets and that there is the right amount of cooperation within the thematic areas. They also encourage collaboration between members of the agricultural, trade and retail sectors.
