IDM organises trade fairs, B2B and B2C events, and festivals themed around specific products.

IDM organises events which offer an up-close encounter with the agri-food products of South Tyrol and build consumer loyalty. All events convey the concepts of standardised values and a shared message; in order to ensure a unified approach, IDM’s Product Management department provides assistance and advice to organisers of events in the local area.

The Speck Alto Adige Festival

The Speck Alto Adige Festival has become a regular highlight on the event calendar. The event agenda features, amongst many other attractions, a lottery, a farmers’ market with traditional handcrafts, speck tasting and culinary specialities. Visitors can also learn to make speck dumplings during cooking workshops, or take a trip to the “Speck Cinema,” don a pair of VR glasses and immerse themselves in the virtual world of speck.

Alto Adige Wine Summit

The internationally oriented “Alto Adige Wine Summit” is held every second September and is targeted towards sector specialists and journalists. The highlight of the event is a tasting session of wines prior to their market launch. A variety-packed fringe event programme features vineyard tours, culinary specialities and meetings with vintners, giving visitors a unique experience and insight in the diversity and contrasts of the wine-world of South Tyrol.

South Tyrolean Milk Festival

The South Tyrolean Milk Festival is held every second July or August in the Val Sarentino/Sarntal. The variety-packed programme of events in store for visitors during the two days of the festival include, amongst other attractions, the “Milk Path,” butter churning, cheese production, music, dancing and food.

Guided tours of the apple orchards

Guided tours of the apple orchards are organised every year in collaboration with the local tourism associations and the fruit-growers’ cooperatives. During these walks amongst the apple trees or to the fruit consortia, the Apple Ambassadors provide detailed explanations to familiarise visitors with the world of Südtiroler Apfel/Mela Alto Adige PGI apples, organic or integrated cultivation methods and the different varieties of apples, together with interesting information on the storing and packaging of this tasty South Tyrolean fruit. The guides also provide guests an insight into the life and work of an apple farmers, the nutritious value of apples, the registered trademark varieties and PGI status. The event is rounded off with an apple tasting “challenge,” where participant put their skills to the test and attempt to recognise the different varietal of apples by their colour and taste.

South Tyrolean Bread and Strudel Market

For many years, now, the South Tyrolean Bread and Strudel Market has been held in Piazza Duomo, Bressanone/Brixen, on the same dates as the Speck Festival in Val di Funes/ Villnöss. The bakers and confectioners of South Tyrol present their vast array of traditional “Quality South Tyrol” bread specialities at this event, which also features a children’s bakery, a bread workshop with breadmaking courses, the historical “from wheat to bread” route, a harvest festival with a Mass and blessing of the bread together with music and culinary specialities.

South Tyrolean Herb Day

The South Tyrolean Herb Day is held every second October in the Meran/o Kurhaus. During this event, herb farmers and experts showcase a wide variety of herbs and spices and illustrate their many culinary, cosmetic and medicinal properties. Visitors have the opportunity to explore the multi-faceted world of herbs, from infusions through to healing properties. In addition to the endless array of herbs, the event also features a number of culinary specialities.

Open Breweries Day

The Open Breweries Day is held every year in March or April. The event provides local brewers with the opportunity to demonstrate the art of South Tyrolean brewing through tasting sessions, guided tours, culinary specialities and music.

Bread Day

The Bread Day, an annual event first held in May 2021, provides visitors with the opportunity to discover the South Tyrolean art of breadmaking at first hand in the bakeries as the expert bakers explain their breadmaking methods and present their array of “Quality South Tyrol” bread. During guided tours to a number of bakeries and mills, participants watch the bread being made to traditional methods and learn how South Tyrolean grain is milled, and the features which distinguish Quality South Tyrol/Alto Adige bread.
