The foundations of the future.

IDM develop multi-year strategic plans for the development of the construction sector.

Construction is one of the main pillars of the South Tyrolean economy, capable of generating around two billion euros of added value for our region every year. The construction companies of South Tyrol work primarily in the regional area, and employ around 1.8% of the South Tyrolean workforce, which corresponds to 21,000 people.

The role of IDM

In order to remain competitive, further consolidation of South Tyrol’s construction sector is essential. IDM, consequently, in conjunction with institutional and economic organisations, develops strategic plans aimed towards developing the sector and promoting key projects throughout the entire value chain. This approach leads to profitable synergies between local and extra-regional players in the fields of research, training and the economy in general. Because it is only by coming together that we can guarantee the growth and progress of South Tyrol into the future.

To this end, we study future trends, monitor market trends, and identify platforms and strategic multi-year programmes to provide the construction sector with innovative support.

Working with a view to tomorrow

Through the “Efficient use of resources in construction” innovation platform, we focus on characteristics and solutions which favour sustainability in all its forms. The digital revolution makes it possible to improve existing production methods and organisational processes, minimise losses and increase efficiency in terms of time, cost and quality of construction, with a pronounced impact on methodology and work processes. If these benefits are to be exploited to the full, a switch to BIM (Building Information Modelling), the digital model for information management in construction, is imperative. We also promote technologies targeted towards improving indoor air quality.

Elevation: The panoramic solution

Raising the height of an existing building is the ideal means of creating new living spaces without consuming land. It also enables people to find houses at reasonable prices, as it averts land costs and exploits existing infrastructure.
