Never stop growing.

IDM develop multi-year strategic programmes for the development of the timber sector.

The wood sector is one of South Tyrol’s key strengths. Around 2,900 companies operate in the local manufacturing industry, and approximately 20,000 people earn their income in the forest and wood sector. Overall, this economic field generates an annual turnover of around 1.4 billion euros, confirming its vital importance for South Tyrol’s economy.

The role of IDM

IDM identifies future trends, monitors market developments, and uncovers innovation platforms – multi-year strategic programmes designed to support the wood sector in innovative ways. Our goal is to identify new opportunities, further increase local value creation, and promote a broader use of wood.

Our long-term strategy focuses on three key areas of action:

  • Forest management and resource efficiency
  • Decarbonisation and the wood circular economy
  • Wood excellence and skills development
