Never stop growing.

IDM develop multi-year strategic programmes for the development of the timber sector.

The timber sector is one of the key strengths of South Tyrol, as evidenced by the over 2,200 companies in the manufacturing industry which guarantee a salary to 25,000 people in the forestry-timber sector. The latter, according to conservative estimates, generates an annual turnover of approximately 1.3 billion euros.

The role of IDM

In order to remain competitive, further consolidation of South Tyrol’s timber sector is essential. IDM, consequently, in conjunction with institutional and economic organisations - under the name of ProRamus – develops strategic plans aimed towards developing the sector and promoting key projects throughout the entire value chain. This approach leads to profitable synergies between local and extra-regional players in the fields of research, training, and the economy in general. Because it is only by coming together that we can guarantee the growth and progress of South Tyrol into the future.

To this end, we study future trends, monitor market trends, and identify platforms and strategic multi-year programmes to provide the timber sector with innovative support. Through the “Wood Cycles” innovation platform, for example, we aim to identify opportunities that will enhance local added value and further promote the use of timber in construction.
