Hand in hand.

IDM works in close cooperation with the agri-food consortia.

IDM support and work intensively with the speck, wine and apple consortia, the South Tyrol Dairy Federation and the various specialist commissions who deal with products bearing the Quality South Tyrol/Alto Adige logo. Together with our partners, we draw up and implement annual marketing programmes.

The Speck Alto Adige Consortium

The Speck Alto Adige Consortium was established in 1992 by 17 products as a supervisory association, headquartered at the Chamber of Commerce in Bolzano. In 2003, the Ministry for Agricultural, and Forestry Policies officially recognised the consortium as a protection association and, since then, the consortium has been representing the interests of 28 speck producers in South Tyrol.

The primary objectives of the consortium are to guarantee the quality of Speck Alto Adige PGI and to continuously raise the level of consumer trust in the product. To achieve its goals, the Speck Alto Adige Consortium cooperates closely with a variety of institutions on the local and national level – the autonomous Province of Bolzano/Bozen, the Ministry for Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies, independent auditing group Istituto Nord Est Qualità (INEQ) and IDM.

The South Tyrol Wine Consortium

The South Tyrol Wine Consortium was founded in 2007 as a communal platform representing the interests of the wine sector in South Tyrol, and today counts 218 members. Having received recognition as a protection association, the consortium is now authorised to conduct its activities independently within the Chamber of Commerce, the Province of Bolzano and at international level, and to directly represent the interests of the wine-making sector of South Tyrol.

The Consortium safeguards the denomination of origin certification of South Tyrolean wines, works in the interests of the sector, offers consultation services in oenological matters and manages a wide   variety of registers. It also plans and organises joint advertising campaigns for South Tyrolean wines.

The South Tyrol Apple Consortium

The South Tyrol Apple Consortium was founded in 2000 as an umbrella organisation for all the South Tyrolean organisations involved in apple marketing. It represents the interest of its members and is a protection organisation for the Südtiroler Apfel/Mela Alto Adige PGI apples, officially recognised in 2005 by the EU.

South Tyrol Dairy Federation

The South Tyrol Dairy Federation was founded way back in 1941, at a time which coincided with the dawn of structured development of the dairy industry in South Tyrol, when quality was first positioned as being the key to success. The Federation works to ensure that dairy products from South Tyrol are of outstanding quality, are produced responsibly, and are well-received by consumers. It also endeavours to enhance and consolidate the positive image of dairy products from South Tyrol. Every year, the Federation’s quality control department monitors 16,000 products.

Specialist commissions

A specialist commission established by the provincial administration is responsible for all products which bear the “Quality South Tyrol” logo or an EU designation of origin certification. The commissions consist primarily of producers or representatives of producer associations or interest groups.

The specialist commissions are tasked with creating and developing criteria specifications regarding origin and quality, and also develop annual marketing programmes on behalf of the Province and in cooperation with IDM.
